Melissa Tagg is a name I was familiar with before reading her books. She is part of a Facebook group that I belong to. I knew she was an author with published books, but I had not read any of them. Her personality however draws you in and makes you want to get to know her. Therefore, when she posted that she was looking for people to join the street team for her new book, (a group of people who help promote her book) I jumped at the chance to get to know her a bit better while sharing her book – extra exciting was the fact that Bethany House was going to provide me with a copy! And…little did I know at the time, how much I would love her new Walker Family Series and that I was about to find a new favorite author!
Melissa wrote an e-book prequel novella to the Walker Family Series, Three Little Words. And she offered it free on Amazon! (As of now, it’s still free on Amazon) I remember thinking, “I should read the prequel while I await my copy to arrive in the mail.” I was busy and got sidetracked and forgot all about it until the day her book showed up in my mailbox. The cover of From the Start seemed to perfectly capture what I thought of Melissa and thus excited me to read her book. I then remembered that I had yet to read Three Little Words. I had a quick moment of indecision as to whether to go back and read the prequel or jump into this new book. If you know me, you know I am a stickler for reading my books in order…so as tempting as it was to jump right into the beautiful book in my hand, I went back to Amazon in hopes that I would find the prequel still free. Thank you Jesus it was!! And I am so glad that I read it first.
Although I read primarily Christian fiction books, I read a variety of genres within that category. I enjoy contemporary romance novels but tend to choose romantic suspense or historical romances more often. So, I was especially surprised by how quickly I was drawn into the Walker Family. Three Little Words captured my heart and I did not want it to end. I was so thankful that I had From the Start on hand. I love the family aspect of these books. I love the real situations, with real consequences that are faced in this series. I love that the characters are real, with real flaws, but that with God they can overcome. I love how the characters in this series share God’s love, because although we are all flawed, God gives us the ability and responsibility of sharing His love with others. I love the fun and unique way that Melissa shares each person’s story and the wonderful personalities of each of her characters. And I love how her book pulls at my heartstrings. I have fallen in love with the whole town and so wish I could go visit and chat with the family. I’m waiting anticipation for the next Walker book to come out. If you haven’t already done so, go download Three Little Words…then get your copy of From the Start!! I’m certain you will love them both!!
